Safety tips when selling or buying online on the platform
Prefer to buy in-person – Bridal Stories platform is a global website aimed at promoting local sales, fostering face-to-face businesses. To ensure your safety, take someone with you if you're meeting someone, or ask for personal identification first, if you're inviting someone to your home.
Don't ship your item before receiving the money – Prefer cash-on-delivery shipping methods like postal services or other means.
Don't agree to sending the item by strangers or a company hired by the buyer – Always send the item yourself.
Keep the conversations within Bridal Stories' platform chat – Prefer conversations within the monitored chat by the Bridal Stories team. Do not share details such as your email, phone number, passwords, citizen card information or banking details (such as card number and security codes).
Use your common sense If the offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. If they insist, create a sense of urgency, or pressure you to complete the sale, you might be dealing with fraud. In this case, report the user or ad. In your report, you can include a link to the ad and a screenshot containing fraudulent links if the conversation occurs outside Bridal Stories' platform chat.
Avoid messages with spelling errors – Especially messages outside the chat, as it might be an attempt at fraud. Scammers use translation tools, incorrect expressions or grammar, ask several questions about the item, and then try to offer a delivery or payment method that appears to be more convenient and safe. If the conversation doesn't seem natural, be suspicious, and report it to our platform.
Never send money without verifying the seller – This includes sending money by check, using services like BidPay, Western Union, Money Gram, or any link asking for your personal information or bank card details to pay for items on the platform. These platforms are commonly used in frauds due to their anonymity.
Get informed about the most common forms of fraud – There are various forms of fraud, often involving methods to facilitate delivery or payment, or scammers promising large sums of money.
Phishing – Phishing is a common form of fraud used to obtain personal and banking data. These are forged communications that appear to come from a trustworthy source. Typically, this method involves messages sent by users that seem to be from online payment processors or site administrators. If you click on an address or link outside the Bridal Stories platform or with a website address similar to the platform, do not enter your personal or banking information.
Never provide your card number, expiration date, or CVV (Card Verification Value) at any time. The CVV is a three- or four-digit number located on the back of credit and debit cards.
Remember: Bank card details are only used for payments. Only the IBAN number is used to receive money.
MBWay – MB Way is a popular payment method in Portugal using an app that facilitates payments between individuals via a mobile number linked to a Portuguese bank account. If you're unfamiliar with using MB Way, seek clarification from your bank first. The system is as secure as the user's understanding and usage.
Never disclose any codes or PINs from your MB Way.
To send money or pay, you only need the phone number; there's no need to visit an ATM. For MB Way payments, we recommend verifying the item in person and paying through the app at that moment.
