Selling at the showroom – Terms and Conditions

Consignment selling - What is it?

At Bridal Stories you can sell your item on consignment at our showroom.

We don't buy your dress directly from you but we sell it for you through our consignment sales service, with Bridal Stories being an intermediary in the sale.

A consignment sale consists in the delivery of goods to a seller (like an intermediary in the sale, in this case Bridal Stories). The goods remain the property of the supplier (i.e. the bride) until they are sold through us.

Cleaning & Repairs

We only consign items ready for delivery when they arrive at the showroom.

What should I do before submitting the dress?

  • - Open the laundry bag and check the condition of your item at home before submitting it!
  •
  • - In order to make a fair and correct assessment for both parties as well as increase the value of the items, these must be delivered with no defects, recently cleaned professionally and ironed/steamed before the evaluation so that we can check the item at its best condition. This helps to give value to dress, and above everything, to conserve it.
  •
  • If the dress presents issues during the in-person evaluation, it will be rejected resulting in wasted time for both parties.

Is there an issue with your item?

Stains or dirt? Unraveled lace? Holes? Missing embellishments? Missing buttons?

Please refer to a professional dry cleaning shop that specializes in bridal gowns before our evaluation or get in touch per email to info@bridalstories.pt to get advice on a case by case basis.

Always send us photos of the problems so than we can see it before hand.

Remember Consider that it may be necessary to invest in the item in order to make it sellable for the next bride, considering the purchasing expectations of brides (just like yours were).

Additional services

Any necessary interventions to sell the item at its best condition will be quoted and communicated before consignment, as this is an additional service under quotation.

Alterations – Subject to quotation, evaluated case-by-case (understand that this is not our main focus, but rather the sale of your item, so availability depends on third parties)

Professional cleaningsWe do not offer that service or a pickup service with laundry. If the dress has stains or needs cleaning, it must be cleaned before scheduling a new in-person evaluation. We can recommend cleaning locations.

Final evaluation

Items will only be consigned with a contract after repair or cleaning.

Donate & Upcycle

Do you prefer donating your dress and just want to give it a second life?

Is your item very old or not in good condition, but the material can still be reused?

Don't want to invest in repairing your dress?

Items with defects are not sellable for various reasons such as large stains, tears, permanent creases, aged or yellowed fabrics or pieces, missing parts, etc., so they will be sent for upcycling.

No monetary compensation is provided, as the items are considered donations to Bridal Stories for material repurposing and transformation.

These items need several working hours in order to be recycled by Bridal Stories or partners like designers and seamstress. These will be transformed into new dresses, separated pieces or other items in order to avoid textile waste and ending up at a landfill or going to incineration (where most end up in Portugal).

If you want to donate your dress for upcycling, please send an e-mail to info@bridalstories.pt.

At the time of delivery, a document of donation and transfer of ownership of the item is signed.
